Don’t be scared, thanks to advancements in technology, modern-day root canals are quick and easy. Here at Maple Ridge Endodontics in Spanish Fork, UT, we want to ease our patients’ dental anxiety by offering them answers to the questions they may have about our treatments. With that being said, let’s take a look at the step involved in a root canal treatment.

Step 1
In this step, we prepare your mouth and teeth for treatment. In order to do so, we completely numb the tooth and its surrounding tissues with local anesthesia, ensuring that you’ll be comfortable during the entire procedure. By isolating the affected tooth with a thin sheet of rubber, we create a sterile environment while working on a tooth. Finally, we access the inside of the tooth by drilling a small hole on the biting surface.

Step 2
Find now we will be cleaning, shaping, and filling the two. After gaining access of the inside of the tooth, will clear out all of the dead or dying tissue from the pope and root canals. Then will cleanse the empty chamber and canals with antiseptic and antibacterial solutions. Once everything is clean on the inside, will fill the hole that we previously drilled with the material that will steal your tooth back up once more.

Step 3
By completing the ceiling, ceiling the access hole in temporary closing the tooth with another filling, will ensure that your tooth is not at risk for infection.

It is extremely common for our patients to experience some mild discomfort for a few days after your root canal. This pain is reasonably manageable with the aspirin or ibuprofen.
